How to Buy Wine & Alcohol from Horefood

Horefood supplies Italian wine and beer to trade buyers across the EU. Because alcohol is an excise good, ordering it works a little differently from ambient grocery. This page explains what you can order today, how a duty-suspended movement reaches you, and what you need at your end.

This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Excise rates and procedures vary by country and change over time. Always confirm current requirements with the relevant tax authority and your own advisor.

What you can order today

Not every alcohol category is open through the webshop yet:

  • Wine — available. Supplied under excise duty and moved through the EMCS, with the documentation handled on the Italian side.
  • Beer — available. Same excise and EMCS handling as wine.
  • Spirits & liqueurs — on request. Not orderable online at the moment. Contact us and we will advise on a case-by-case basis.

How ordering alcohol works

Within the EU, excise goods move under duty suspension through the EMCS (Excise Movement and Control System), accompanied by an electronic Administrative Document (e-AD) that carries a unique reference code from dispatch to receipt. We prepare and manage this paperwork on the Italian side, so your consignment leaves in order and can be tracked to delivery. For the full detail on how excise duty and the EMCS work, see our guide Importing Wine in the EU: Excise Duty & EMCS Explained.

What you need at your end

To receive alcohol under duty suspension you generally need an excise position in your country — a bonded or tax warehouse, or a registered-consignee authorisation. Where that is not in place, we look at a duty-paid delivery instead. Requirements depend on your country and on what you order, so we confirm the right route with you before the first shipment rather than leave it to guesswork.
